Inivos Concludes a Successful Engagement at IFS Connect North America 2025!

We’re excited to share that IFS Connect North America 2025, held on June 3–4 at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, TN, was a resounding success!

Our team, Subashana Suwandarathna (Chief Growth Officer) and Padmaja Marupudi (Senior ERP Consultant & Solution Architect), had the incredible opportunity to represent Inivos at this premier industry event. Over the course of two impactful days, they engaged with a dynamic community of IFS customers, partners, and thought leaders from across North America.

The event served as a powerful platform to exchange insights with organizations that are already driving digital transformation through #IFSCloud, as well as those just beginning their journey. Our team connected with industry leaders from manufacturing, energy, construction, and services, each bringing fresh perspectives and ambitious goals for innovation and operational efficiency.

From conversations around AI-driven automation and cloud migration strategies to deep dives into enterprise asset management and field service optimization, the energy and vision on display reaffirmed why IFS is at the forefront of modern enterprise software.

As part of our presence at IFS Connect, Inivos offered a free week of expert consultation, designed to help businesses assess, align, and accelerate their IFS strategy. We’re thrilled with the enthusiastic response and look forward to continuing those conversations in the weeks ahead.

Participating in IFS Connect North America 2025 was not just about showcasing our expertise; it was about listening, learning, and partnering with organizations that are ready to elevate their operations.

To everyone we met: thank you for the conversations, the insights, and the inspiration. We’re excited to continue supporting your transformation journey with agility, precision, and the power of IFS.

Manual Testing Isn’t Dead, It’s Evolving: Why Balance Still Matters in QA by Kasun Fonseka

The Automation Hype vs. Reality: Rethinking Software Testing

In today’s fast-paced world of software delivery, automation is everywhere. From continuous integration pipelines to AI-driven test scripts, the drive toward faster, smarter, and more scalable testing is relentless. Conferences echo the same message: Automate everything. Tweets proclaim the death of manual testing. The narrative is loud, and it’s convincing.

But is it the whole story?

Not quite. While automation has undoubtedly transformed quality assurance, there’s a growing misconception that it can or should replace manual testing entirely. That belief is not only flawed, it’s limiting the effectiveness of many QA teams.

Automation: Powerful, But Not All-Powerful

There’s no question that automation plays a vital role in modern software development. It executes thousands of test cases in minutes, supports continuous delivery, and minimizes human error. Automated tests are repeatable, consistent, and efficient.

However, automation isn’t magic; it only knows what it’s been programmed to do. It doesn’t interpret subtle UI issues, question user experience flaws, or explore unexpected behaviors. It can't adapt to change on the fly or challenge assumptions. Most importantly, it doesn’t think.

What Automation Can’t Replace

Despite all its benefits, automation has limitations:

  • Contextual Understanding: Automation checks for expected outcomes but can’t interpret unintended or unusual behaviors.
  • Exploratory Testing: Human testers bring intuition, curiosity, and critical thinking, essential traits when navigating new or unstable builds.
  • User Experience & Accessibility: Automation might confirm a button exists, but only a person can say if it's well-placed, readable, or user-friendly.
  • Early-Stage Feedback: In the initial phases of development, quick manual tests can identify glaring issues before automation is even possible.

The Case for Manual Testing

Manual testing has often been viewed as time-consuming or outdated, but this perspective overlooks its unique value. It provides depth, empathy, and flexibility that no automation suite can replicate.

Manual testing is particularly effective when:

  • Working with early or unstable features.
  • Validating complex workflows and edge cases.
  • Evaluating usability, accessibility, and visual design.
  • Supporting creative, ad-hoc, or exploratory investigations.

Think of it this way: automation does the heavy lifting; manual testing adds the finishing touches.

A Better Approach: Combine Strengths

The most effective QA strategies don’t choose between automation and manual testing; they use both in harmony.

Automation excels in speed, scale, and consistency. Manual testing brings nuance, insight, and adaptability. When integrated thoughtfully, they complement each other to deliver both velocity and quality.

The key is to embed automation into sprint goals and daily workflows, not as a replacement for manual testing, but as a tool that works alongside it.

Looking Ahead: The Role of AI in Testing

As artificial intelligence continues to advance, it’s beginning to blur the line between automated and manual testing. Intelligent test generation, visual anomaly detection, and AI-powered exploratory testing are opening new possibilities.

But even AI can’t replace the human lens; it can only enhance it.

Manual testing isn’t dead. It’s evolving. And in a landscape increasingly driven by automation and AI, the need for thoughtful, creative, human-centered testing has never been more important.

Let’s not trade one strength for another. Let’s build teams that do both and do them well.
